    I have this model http://www.hp.ca/products/static/presario-notebooks/v3030ca/index.php

Anyway, all in all it's been a smooth ride with this lappy. I did a fresh re-install of Windows XP Pro which went without a hitch. Everything is running fine EXCEPt for some weird sound problems. It only happens intermittantly but seems to be connected with iTunes in some way. At some points, the sound would revert to a weird distortion-y slowed down quality, like its struggling to output. It's usually corrected after exiting iTunes and then restarting the program. As well, it sometimes happens with the sound that occurs when waking the computer from standby, and when shutting down the computer.

The drivers were updated via Windows Update.

it also occurs when Messenger pops up that a new user has signed on.. as if it conflicts with iTunes because it happens when im listening to music.

Can it be HDD related? Do you have a lot of background applications? Norton???

I try to minimize anything running in the background. No Norton, i use nod32. cpu usage only around 5%. I have ran the speed test for the HD in the device manager, looks normal. Pagefile size is 1.5gig.

not sure what else it could be other than perhaps a sound driver issue.
