I have a nc6320 which has just come back from the UK repair centre following a Bluetooth fault. Now I had only used the machine very briefly before finding that initial fault, so I guess I didn't see the following issue.

I've noticed when in battery mode the speakers make a pop noise before and more noticeably after when audio is played back. Now this can be navigation sounds, boot-up or music through WMP.

I wondered if this was a fault caused by the repair..however after flagging this to the repair center I noticed that if you change the Power Management settings in the SoundMax Control Panel to No Power Savings the pop noise magically disappaears (FYI - it's not there with mains connected).

Now when I rang back I spoke to a tech at the center and they said this is not uncommon and what I had done by changing the setting is the workaround.

So is this accurate or is something else at fault?

    Thanks for any advice.

Edit - just had it confirmed by online chat support there is a known issue involving popping noises and hibernation or power saving states. It's down to the ADI Soundmax Controller.

Let's hope they (HP or Soundmax) get round to fixing it.

Just to add I've discovered what is at fault.

I reverted to the image I'd made with Acronis TI when I first got the machine and had updated Windows. At this point the unit had no Bluetooth driver/software on it, and when checking the audio/speakers there was no popping noise evident on battery.

So I re-downloaded the bluetooth package off the HP site and installed. Now this is a sizeable package at around 40MB, and installs quite a bit of stuff. Once installed and rebooted..low and behold the popping noise returns on the SoundMax Power Management settings. Change to no power savings and it's gone.

Therefore I can only deduce something is up or conflicting software wise between the Bluetooth drivers and the Soundmax ones.

Has anyone got specific contact details for HP that I can flag this issue?..obviously I don't want to spend all day going round the houses in India.
