I have a NW 8240 and the rubber cap of the pointstick (touchstick, touchstyk etc) broke and fell of after a few months of use, doesn't sound like workstation quality, I wasn't particularly bothered by it since I've been using a BT mouse all the time. But as I'm getting ready to buy a new laptop and pass this along to someone else I wanted to get a new rubber cap so the computer would be complete.

So I contacted HP and asked if they had any spares, but the said that they don't and that I have to replace the whole keyboard. Could this really be true? On all Compaq, Dell and IBMs I've had before this one there was always a spare rubber cap delivered with the computer or available as a spare part.

Replacing the keyboard cause a little rubber cap broke seems like a waste of money and resources, anyone knows if there are spares to another brand that fits?

I've seen some rubber cap that was square on the inside, but the pointstick on NW8240 is circular.

On a side note, our daughter is using my old ThinkPad A21P (think its from 2002) and the rubber cap is still there after 5 years of use. Now thats quality!

    Cheers
