I have posted about this before but is there a way to upgrade or change the nside this unit. They suck to me and are far worse than my old zv5348rs notebook was. It had way more bass than this. There is NO base at all on the 9500 and I can't find anyway to adjust or increase the bass through the settings. Also its way TOO low. Some DVDs you can't even hear the actors.

Someone said to make sure the wave setting was all way up but I don't see an actual wave setting under sounds. There are for the speakers, media player etc.. and everything is up to 100. Where are the bass adjustments, treble etc...?

On my DV6000, the sound was noticeably quieter after I upgraded to the latest sound drivers. Rolling back to the previous ones boosted the volume significantly.

You're looking for bass from on-board laptop sound? Ha!!!! All on-board sound sucks, doesn't matter which laptop you're looking at. Those integrated speakers don't cost 30 cents even. They're garbage. Get a nice pair of headphones if you want some solid bass. Sennheiser comes to mind.

To answer the original question: no, you cannot change the speakers internally.

Rather, look into an external set to plug into...much better quality than anything a notebook can offer.

I agree in a way, while the speakers are really good for laptops, they have almost no bass whatsoever but dont be fooled into thinking older laptops had better sound, they probably had worse.

Very true. The speaker on my old ThinkPad sounded like it was coming from inside a tin can.

As for HP, I have not yet decided whether I prefer the older front-mounted speakers or the newer keyboard-localized ones.............

I personally prefer the front mounted speakers, even though the new design does not allow that. But that is not a concern since I use external speakers.

I played with the equalizer settings in Media Player and this has helped more than anything. It made the MP3s sound better and louder. The problem is the DVDs are too low. I don't think this effects the DVD volume. I haven't checked yet.

I also ordered a set of those sennheiser px100 headphones from amazon last night to.
