    Hello,

I currently own the HP zd7000 with harman/kardon speakers with excellent sound quality. I was wondering what speakers the Compaq V4000T has because I am looking into buying one. I really like the way it looks and would prefer to go with it, rather than HP DV4000.

Current HP laptops come with altec lansing speakers, so I wanted to know how their quality compares to harman/kardon? Also, if you look at hp website under V4000T specs, it says that it has dual audio speakers - not a word about them being altec lansing. Does that mean they are some generic stereo or am I supposed to assume they are altec lansing? Does anyone have this model and could tell me what it actually has?

This image below is taken from a review of V4000, and I dont see any sticker with altec lansing logo on it.

All of the newer V4000's have Altec Lansing Speakers; if you're not sure, call up HP. In addition the DV4000 and the V4000 both have the same speakers. They are essentially the same notebook with a different case and company logo.

Yeah its weird, I've seen some DV4000s without a label on the speakers, I gues they use generic speakers then or what?

I had a zv5000 - it also had the nice harman/kardon speakers you are referring to. I loved the sound quality on that.

But, when I listened to the Altec Lansing (or generic/non-labeled) speakers in the new HP line, I was dissappointed. It is still better sound than you get out of most notebooks, but they are not what they used to be. :(

Yeah, I've noticed a disinct difference between my newer zv6000 and my 3.5 year old Satellite, and found that the Satellite is MUCH better than the HP. The Satellite, however, came equipped with harman/kardon speakers, as well as a built in subwoofer, which outperfoms even the Dell XPS M170, the I9300, and even some of the newer Qosmios.

The Altec Lansing speakers in my DV4000 are some of the best I've ever heard, they are the best out of all other notebooks I've owned at least. No complaints from me.
