I read in a review on circutcity (i think) that the zv6000 speakers suck. Is there anything you can do about that like replacing them? I really want the best speakers possible for the money.

The speakers on the zv6000 are Altec Lansing's. They're O.K., but lack the capacity to produce enough bass, and become blurred as a result. Changing out the speakers might proove very tricky and could possible damage the computer, so I wouldn't reccomend it.

Right, just get some decent external speakers because anything external will beat notebook speakers.

I guess I'll have to settle with the low end speakers. I really liked the Harmon Kardon hp usually uses.

the speakers on the zv6000 are very loud, I find they work very well, nothing really blurs. Just make sure you get one that is a zv6100 series....

The zv6100 series is a zv6000 with a different configuration. And all zv6000s come with the same speakers.

Not necessarily. I know HP has a configuration number for customized notebooks but I can't think of it at this moment. Anyway, the point I was trying to say is that the zv6xxx series are all the same, with minor differences in configuration specs such as processor speed, memory, etc...

Of course, I'm planning to get it around October if the free upgrades are still around.

I agree with Krispy Kreme here on just buying a good set of external speakers. Personally, I use the AUX output on my 150 watt stereo and plug it into my headphone jack to play MP3s.

When you're on the go and can only use laptop speakers, at least know that HP makes some of the better laptop speakers out there. They will be loud enough to hear movies if that's what you're concerned with.

I had a zv5000z before I had my Acer. It had harman/kardons- they rocked!! Good bass, loud and perfectly clear up to the highest volume. I sorely miss them! The ones in my Acer are pretty tinny and typical.... :(

Yeah I've heard a set of h/k's they did rock. I can't believe hp would replace them.
