I'm looking to order one today. But I need the 8gb of RAM. I'm trying to figure out where it's cheaper to order the 4 or 8 with the system and or upgrade after market. If I had hit the 30% BCB days it would have been easy, but now...

Anyone know what kind or memory is in there and the specs?

1066/1333/samsung, depends on the CPU. better to buy a full 8 yourself.

yeah. my memory is 2 dimms of 2gb of 1333 mhz DDR3 memory.

but it's locked at 1066mhz since the i5s can't go above that

Buying the full 8gb myself wouldn't save me anything. The cheapest I can find a 4gb DIMM is $100. The difference between 4 (2x2) and 8 (4x2) is $200, so it's better to have HP do it and cover it (and not complain about it if something goes wrong).

The savings has to be at least $50 to be worth while to me.

If you pay 25 dollars for 4gb 1 dim, then order only 1 $100 4gb stick, you will save $75.

I'd like it to be a matched set if possible.
