Has anyone seen the special edition DV1000's at Bestbuy? Model numbers are DV1331se, with Pentium M processor and DV1311se, with Celeron M processor. I've heard these are only available at Bestbuy.

I just saw them at Bestbuy today. The only difference I've seen is that the lid and bottom of the notebook is very shiny and looks really nice and has "special edition" written just below the HP logo. Also, where it says "widescreen" just above the LCD screen, has been replaced by "special edition"

The strange thing about the Pentium M version is that its using the older 1.7 ghz Pentium M with 400 mhz side bus.

I think its just another marketing gimmick intended to increase sales. Unless you really like shiny lids or different labeling, it's probably not worth it.

You are absolutley right. I'm just wondering how only Bestbuy is selling these, you can't buy these even on HP's website.

BestBuy sells alot of computers, so they have purchasing power, allowing them to make "exclusive" deals with manufacturers.

I think hp.ca has better configs for the same price. Theres that dv1315cl that has a smaller hard drive (80gb) but more ram (1gb) and the PM 740 processor. I'd personally go for that one. I was trying to figure out what the advantage of the special edition was myself. It seems to cost the same with a slower processor - a marketing gimmick for sure. Unfortunately I have no idea who sells the dv1315cl.
