I'm no genius with computers, but I've tried all I can think of to get the original zippyness back (or at least some of it) with no real great results. The speed seemed to deteriorate all at once mid April. (I bought it September)

It has no viruses, and I always do the windows updates.

I have 100gb disk space, and have it down to about 30 used now. It has a Centrino duo processor.

I have uninstalled a lot of the junk that was on it.

I have cleaned the disk, and defragged it.

I just don't know what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks a lot!

If it is at all possible I would try a reinstall, as when you uninstall stuff it doesn't always remove everything and over time this could reduce performance. If you can't do that I would try a registry cleaner.

Apart from this you might want to check how many programs boot along with your OS, as these programs will be taking up system resources. Someone else here might be able to tell you exactly how to access this information (I don't remember right now), or you could try googling "windows startup" and find one of those small freeware programs which monitors this and lets you decide.

silly question... will I lose files when doing a reinstall?
