Well, being the cheap procrastinator that I am and being curious about the next refresh, I'm still tinkering with my zv6130us. So far, I've performed the following upgrades: 2GB Kingston ValueRam 333mhz, swapped Athlon 64 3200+ 2.0ghz to 4000+ 2.4ghz SINGLE CORE :( and running XP SP3...

My boot time from power up to desktop icons (about 50) loaded is nearly 1:30 minutes. Only things in my startup is the HP Wireless Assistant, Avira AV and GoogleToolbarNotifier (probably could disable this) and that's it.

I even disabled the Windows startup splash screen to save a few seconds but I do have the name/password login box popup that occurs before the desktop loads (though I don't really need it).

IIRC, the factory HDD is a measly 4200rpm and so I'm thinking of upgrading to a 5400rpm if it'll make a noticeable difference. I haven't so far because I hate having to transfer everything to the new drive.

Anything else I can tweak to windows or to the laptop to get sub 1minute startup times? I'm still running factory XP OS and though having removed some things over the years, I don't know if there's bloatware hiding that could be slowing me down...

    Help? :p
