Ok so My wife spilled Mt Dew on here laptop (hp dv4t), all over the keyboard, I quickly grabbed it, and help the power button to shut it down, turned it upside down and let the pop drain out, let it sit for a few days, and now it works fine... Except... Half the keyboard is now sticking, Im wondering if the whole keyboard will pop off in one piece, or if the indivizual keys pop off easily enough.

If you can be of help, than i would realy appreciate it, If you want to post to tell me to search the forums for an answer, than save it, I already searched, and all i found were other people asking the question, and the same non-helping people telling them to go search.

    Thanks

most keyboards have keys that can be removed separately. the other question of course is if the pop hasn't damaged the keyboard internally somehow. as a quick fyi, ebay doesn't have any spare dv4t keyboards in stock, only spill protectors :D. there are however a number of dv 5 keyboards available, and i've heard they're compatible/identical - not entirely sure though.

EDIT: oops, ebay does have dv4 keyboards as well. i guess the "t" suffix threw the search engine off.

You need to remove the whole keyboard and give it a good soak and scrub (including trying to get a brush between the keys) in a some warm water with a little detergent. You have got to get rid of all the sugary stuff.

Once you think you have got it clean then you need to get it dry, which miight take several days.

If that doesn't get it working then you can try removing all the keys and repeating the cleaning process.

Okay, I'm not gonna lie. When I first looked at the title of this thread, I thought you wrote something a little more messy and disgusting than "pop." :p
