My notebook (dv2000t) freezes when I put it in standby. All of the lights are still on but the monitor is off. When I try to bring it back, nothing. Also, when I put it into hibernate it locks up on the screen that says it is preparing to hibernate. Any ideas. This computer is 2 days old.
    Thanks

Most probably you have a program in the background that prevents Windows from shutting down. Try exting all programs, all taskbar items, etc. and retry.
Also try to hibernate it immediately after restart when you still have not done anything. This way you'll know if there's a problem with some of the start-up programs (check them at Run/ msconfig)
