    Hey HPers. Quick questions.
When you guys go to msconfig, do you guys have 2 startup items for HP Wireless Assistant? I was on my friends HP, and he only had one. I was wondering do I need these both for wifi to work?
    1. HPWAMain.exe
    2. WiFiMsg.exe

Also, does anyone know what RAID EvENT MONITOR IS? from intel.
    1.iaanotif.exe

i disable it and nothing happens. ;o

Uninstall HP Wireless Assistant. Its useless bloatware

If you wanna disable BT seperately, you can do it through Device Manager

Didn't install wireless assistant either. I use XP's built-in wireless control. Don't need or want more useless things running at start-up.

wireless assistant is a total startup resources hog, and it doesn't even have any useful features
you can just uninstall the whole program

It only has 1 feature that people want. It can turn off Bluetooth and Wireless seperately.

The switch on the laptop turns on/off both bluetooth and wireless which can be annoying if you only want wireless or BT off

But the device manager can do the same with just abit more effort

Do you guys know what RAID EvENT MONITOR IS? from intel-iaanotif.exe

EDIT: What about HP Network Assistant? Is that needed?

Of course i installed quicklaunchb. thats a driver not a program.

No you do not need to install the synaptics/alps software, this is actually a program and not a driver. you wont get the side scroller on the trackpad if you dont install this. The sidescroller annoys me so i never installed it.

    Leave the intel program on

Of course you can use the touchpad. The touchpad doesnt need drivers installed to work. The ALPS/Synaptics program in the SWsetup folder just enables the sidescroller and other features of the trackpad.

If you dont like the sidescroller on the trackpad dont install it.
