Hi everyone, I just recently purchased a Samsung EVO 850 M2 and I want to upgrade my existing hard drive.

I'm a little confused as to how to go about the cloning process/backup process.

The goal is to port all of the existing OS/software into the new hard drive without having to reinstall anything.

    Any tips?

If you can find an m.2 to USB adapter, this will most likely be your easiest route. Samsung offers drive cloning software for their drives on their website. If not, if you have an external HDD you can create a system image on that and restore it on to your new m.2 during the Windows install process.

I have used Macrium Reflect free to clone several PCs from hard drive to SSD and from SSD to SSD.

Basically, you create a Reflect USB flash drive rescue media and then use Reflect to backup your entire drive to an external hard drive.

Install the new SDD and boot from the rescue flash drive and with the external drive in place, restore the backup image to the new SSD.

After a successful reboot, use a Partition Manager to tweak the sizes of your drives in case, you have a C and D drive.

I did this process on a Yoga 2 13, a Dell Inspiron 3147, a Dell Venue 11 Pro, an HP Pavilion desktop, and others.
