    Hello,
When playing games, I have occasionally accidentally touched the function key. Then even after letting go, it stays on till you press another key. Is there a fix for this?

The only real "fix" for your issue, is to open your notebook up and see what is going on under the hood.

It may be as simple as having a peice of plastic stuck in place and repositioning a key. Or you could have smashed something in a gaming fit of rage. Hard to tell. But you will not know unless you look.

As an alternative, you may be able to use a small, thin peice of metal, such as the tip of razor blade or knife and pry the key top off. See if there is anything under gumming up the button. Fairly safe to do so long as you use caution and gentle motions.

Sorry, to clarify, the issue is software related, not hardware... When the function key is pressed down and released, the computer uses the next key stroke as if the function key was still depressed. It allows you to press the function key, and then press another key to acomplish the same effect as holding down function and another key. It is how all DV6T's are... I was just wondering if there was a setting to make it be a normal function key.

go into the BIOS and disable the fn key (i dont recall exactly how its labelled but theres only like 6 things total you can change so you'll find it :) )

when u make that change, it will require u hold down Fn when u want to use a function

you guys are still not getting it. it's a sticky key like (annoying) function. you can see what he means by pressing shift key 5 times rapidly and turning on the sticky key for the shift key. now imagine this for the fn key, without a way to disable it.

i've been trying to fix it since beginning of may when i first got the dv6. the only "fix" is to get used to the keyboard enough so that you don't press the fn key by accident...

yeah i have this laptop and when i first got it, it worked like you mentioned in the first post. when you press the function key and release it, it remembers that u pressed it and then u are able to press f1, f2, etc without holding down the function key.. disabling it in the BIOS makes the function key completely useless unless im holding it down while pressing another button

    so idk whats going on
