The dv5 series have glossy sticky touchpads that are difficult to use when my fingers are dry(lot of friciton)...and comparitively easier to use when my fingers are moist(i.e when they sweat) and eventually the touchpad soils.
Why is that HP have designed such touchpads?
When they test the product did they not realize that it would be difficult to use the glossy touchpad?

I have the exact opposite problem with my hdx18. When it's humid, or my fingers are clammy, I can barely drag them across the pad. But whn they are dry I can zip around on it.

Actually the touch pads started to go all shiny about 2-3 years ago. I remember my ZV5000 having an awesome surface.

With these touch pads, you can't clean them. You have to let a small layer of your finger oils build up to provide lubricant. I know that sounded extremely awful, but it's true lol.

    OR

you can search NBR and/or Google for the guy that was making touch pad surfaces with a more rough texture.

Just dont clean it. When ever i cleaned my touch pad it gets much harder to use untill it gets dirty again with the oils from your finger.

This is something only the HP staff can respond to, maybe it was a decision from a hotshot and not necessarily thinking into the design and usability of the thing.

It's the price for being able to use the touchpad as a mirror apparently.
