    Stiff hinges on Presario F500 series

    I've had this notebook since the middle of the summer and one thing I have noticed is that the hinges are very stiff. When I open or close the notebook, they creak very loudly and it almost sounds like the plastic is about to break. Could they just need some sort of lubrication?

    It's possible that screw holders on the LCD cover are broken. The LCD brackets are loosely attached to the plastic LCD cover, a common problem of HP laptop. If it's still within warranty, you should contact HP for service.

    You can check by removing the LCD bezel, then check screws those holding the LCD bracket to the cover. Turn your lcd back and forth to check if the lcd brackets firmly attached to the LCD cover, particularly at the right and left bottom corners.
