Still "grainy" screens in the 8510p?

I'm set on getting this laptop this week, and I've been doing some deciding/searching on what kind of screen to get. I had decided on the WXGA just because I find SXGA screen items too small for my not-so-great eyes. But I'm worried because in doing my searches here about the 8510p, it seems there are a lot of people getting grainy Samsung screens that have to be replaced. And I really don't want to deal with that.

So are the screens still bad? Have they been replaced by LGs? What are the chances of getting one? I saw someone on some thread mentioned they had gotten better recently? Is it both WXGA and WSXGA that have issues? If I have to, I can get an SXGA, but i don't want to.

Haven't heard of anyone with a grainy 8510p in awhile, so IMO you should be safe. WSXGA has been good for a long time, and although I did read complaints about WXGA early this year, there haven't been any posts in quite some time either. Seems to be fixed/small percentage of units.

There were grainy screen complaints? I don't remember them too well. There hasn't been any of late, so I would guess you'll be fine. My WXGA screen is great.

Good deal, thanks for the answer. While you're here I have one other quick question:

Do you know if the 8510p comes standard with Vista 32bit or 64bit by any chance? I cannot find any information on this, and it doesn't say anywhere on the configuration page. I would assume 32bit, but I just thought I'd ask.

    *edit*

So I was looking over my purchase, and I noticed it says the T8300, or any of the "Penryn" processors, have 4mb L2 cache. I thought all Penryn processors had 3mb L2 cache. This can't be a typo because its there for all the Penryn options. Am I wrong here or is this written wrong on their website?

Don't know about the cache, but I wouldn't really care. It is extremely doubtful that you'd notice a difference between a 3 and 4 MB cache. I'm pretty sure the 32 bit is the standard. I can't think of any companies that give out the 64 bit Vista as standard.
