I'm buying myself an HP DV5000t after the weekend is over, and I'm stuck between the T2400 and the T2250 for my processor.

I know that the difference lies in the FSB, but is their a noticable difference between the 533mhz and the 667mhz?

And since the RAM is 533mhz (in either case, correct?), does that make a 667mhz FSB significant?

I know a lot of the difference is going to come down to use, so here's what I use mine for:

    School related applications (read: Word)
Music, photos, and movies (though basic. I don't do editing or music making)
RTS and sim gaming (Age of Empires, Empire at War, Rollercoaster Tycoon)

    Thoughts?

    I previously had a dv1000t, 1.83 with 1 GB of 667mhz Ram.

    I now have a dv2000t, with the T2250 processor, 1.73Ghz, 2 GB of Ram.

Honestly you'd never know the difference. Both machines seem blazingly fast. Opening Photoshop CS2, which used to take forevr on my older, 1.8 single core machine, now is almost instant. Running a DVD ripping program, virus scan, and browsing the web, you don't feel any slowdown.

I also run RawShooter (converts Canon Raw to JPG) while running Photoshop. It used to really slow down, and converting images would take, I'd guess, 40-45 seconds on my older machine (the 1.8 Ghz single core). Now, it probably takes about 10-15 seconds on either the previous dv1000t with the T2400 (I believe that was the number, it was the 1.83 Ghz duo core) or with my current dv2000 (T2250)

Bottom line, unless the fact I now have 2GB of Ram, where before I had 1 GB of Ram is making up some of the speed, I don't think you'll notice the difference in everyday usage.

I purchased my DV5190 from HP and it came with 667MHz RAM. In fact most of the models on HP's website in the DV5000t line come with the 667MHz RAM if the processor FSB supports it. However, I have not compared it to a system with 533MHz RAM to see if there is a noticeable difference.
