    hey guys : )

my HP laptop, model number Pavilion dv2500 (the entertainment pc), installed with windows vista is not even a year old. i have already done two system recoveries-- once in march and once just a few days ago. the problem this time is very very strange:

i was using the laptop like i normally do, and suddenly, my entire screen is filled with streaks and streaks of colours (in columns, of different colours). i restarted it and the problem persisted. i tried a system restore, and yet the same thing happened. i contacted HP and they told me to do a system recovery; i did, and the problem persisted. i contacted them again- they told me to send the laptop in for check-up and repair, which that will take around 10 days, but i need the laptop for work and the like.

...what should i do? any ideas?

Buy HP/Compaq! Dont buy Dell or Sager.

If this problem has continued to happen even after a reformat then it looks like a hardware issue. If possible try connecting the laptop to an external display and see if it solves it. That way you can narrow down the problem to either the LCD/LCD cable or the graphics card. In both cases you will most likely have to send the laptop in for service.
