HP failed again at repairing my Compaq Evo N620c. It has been in three times with a bad LCD that was originally installed as a warranty replacement. Each time it comes back with a new system board. I purposefully set a black desktop pattern so they can see the stuck pixels and the flickering backlight is obvious. I also told them that the system displays properly on an external monitor. Do they listen? NO. How they can think a bright blue pixel in the center of a black screen is a system board issue is beyond me.
To their credit, they are willing to take the notebook in again, and this time I got them to specifically request a new LCD in the case notes. I just don't see how they could have installed such a poor replacement LCD panel the first time. Are 4:3 SXGA+ screens that hard to come by that they have to put in whatever they have lying aroud?

Yes, the 4:3 SXGA+ screens are incredibly hard to come by how. If you notice, there are really few 4:3 aspect ratio computers out on the market today.

As for 4:3 screens being unavailable, I have been told that HP supports their business notebooks for seven years after they go out of production. That would suggest that they have plenty of parts for the Evos, which are four years out of production. -

bad pixels are such an eyesore. i hope you get your LCD replaced... they dont make the normal aspect ratio LCD anymore... or they are hard to come by
Stuck pixels are NOT a system board issue
