    Is there a way to test to see if the web cam works without using a messenger program? I just want to see if the thing works.

    Is there an app on the laptop that opens up a viewer?

    I have a new dv9000t w/Vista Ultimate.

    In Windows XP you can go into the control panel and go to the scanners and camera option and select your webcam their to test it and take pics.

    HP QuickPlay allows you to preview/record/take snapshot, as described in the post above..
