All in all I would have taken me 2 hours to do if I had all the files.
I installed XP SP2, all drivers by downloading them individually from HP, QP Direct 2.3, SATA Naitive support and some apps. Everything worked corrcectly the first time.
DV6200 CTO.
Just thought I would share that it is not as hard as some make it seem and you can still do it without your backup drivers. I did it from a complete blank slate.

So with xp installed, do u not experience any problems such as the high fan rate? Does ur webcam work on its own without quickplay or msn messenger ? -
I have no fan problems as of now.
- Funny thing I never tried the webcam... i need to install the driver. I bet it wont work now that you brought it up... =) -
Did you have a fan problem while running Vista ??? I personally like the look and feel of Vista but is it a energy-hog or something?
-
It is my opinion that Vista is still in a Beta stage. It looks good, but it is clumsy, the UI is slow and it is not as refined as it could be. It is a resource hog as well.

Hey, is there any way you could provide any documentation about how you made this change? I have the exact same laptop (DV6200) and am trying to downgrade to XP pro, and HP doesn't have half the drivers for it. I called them and they said that XP was 'incompatible' but we all know that's bull. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
Success!! Went from Vista To XP
