Can someone please list what exactly needs to be run (and in what order) to get your laptop working properly and with all the features after the clean install?
It would be great if you could list it like this:
SWSetup/Drivers/BTOOTH/Setup.exe
SWSetup/Drivers/Video/Setup.exe
etc...
One of my main problems is I do not know what exactly to run. Some folders have sub-folders that contain additional applications or executables and I am not sure if I should run these other applications/executables in addition to the executable found in the root folder?
For example:
Should I run both(this is not a specific example, just generic)...
SWSetup/Drivers/Video/Setup.exe and...
SWSetup/Drivers/Video/x64/Setup.exe
I am by the way running Vista 64 bit and have the TV Tuner option.

You dont really need to install anything in order. Preferably, i install the intel chipset/storage drivers first, then video > sound > wireless > ....
If you have 64bit then run the setup file in the x64 folder. If it doesnt have x64 folder then just run the normal .exe file. -
But should you run both setup executables? The one in the root folder and the one "deeper" in the root folder? Or do you just run the one in the x64 folder and not the one in the root folder?
-
The one in the root folder recognizes and then runs the correct setup for 32 or 64bit versions. You dont need to run it twice. In any case, only 64bit drivers will install. 32bit version wont install on a 64 bit system.

Ok, I am still getting error messages from my Quickplay. I have tried reinstalling but no luck. I think the errors only came whn I did Windows Update.
Am I only supposed to run the setup.exe s or are there other applications i need to run? So if someone doesn't mind can they write out everything they used from SWSetup? -
This is the exact error:
CL RC Engine3 Dummy Winidow: QPService.exe - Application Error
The exception unknown software exception (0xc0000005) occured in the applicatin at locatoin 0x2270fc9c.
Click on OK to terminate
The error message doesn't come when I have Quickplay uninstalled. So any ideas about this too? -
Go ahead and remove qpservice.exe from starting up with windows (use msconfig to remove the entry) & reboot. This error is most likely related to compatibility issue with the mouse drivers. It is safe to do so and wont disable any functionality.
-
But I do not have any mice installed on the laptop yet? Or did the microsoft update add one for some reason? (and is it normal for it to take ~2-3 minutes to restart?) And any ideas why the quickplay button on keyboard doesn't work?
-
No idea. I havent seen that error with QP but I usually disable qpservice.exe since its not really critical for quickplay to function. As far as restarts, 2 -3 mins is about average for Vista. A cold start takes around a mintue, so shutdown and restart wil be longer.
-
Ok then I think I have everything up and running now..? Do I need to go and get some drivers though? Or what do I need to get updated drivers for (and from where? Official websites like Nvidia?). The motherboard, video card, ...?
-
Get the Nvidia drivers(+ moded inf) from laptopvideo2go forums since Nvidia doesn't officially directly support the mobile series. Any of those drivers listed in the lv2go forums should work since they are universal, however try one of the newer ones just to be safe. The rest dont really need updates unless there are specific issues to fix.
-
also check hp.com for chipset drivers.
-
Was there a particular reason why it was recommended to go to lv2go back then? Would the one at the HP site be fine nowadays ( here)?
-
The one on hp's site is 175.88, and laptopvideo2go has 180.84.
-
I won't be a hardcore gamer so would it be of any benefit to download the one from lv2go? Reading the forum there, it doesn't seem like a simple download & install...
-
If you install DOX's drivers it's really simple. They do provide benefits such as improved gaming quality and are highly optimized, even if you're just a casual gamer, you'll notice the difference.
-
Wow... their file size (29 MB) is significantly smaller than the one at HP's site (170+ MB), but I guess size doesn't mean anything. Thanks- do you know if you still need to put in a modded inf file to make it work?
-
Nope, Dox's drivers have the modded inf already packaged into the installer.
as for size - hp's drivers have numerous langauge packs, which are mostly a waste of space.
