Just figured i'd post it, because most people say it won't work... I have successfully upgraded to 4gb DDR2800 RAM in my dv9420us. Its got the Quanta 30b9 motherboard and a TL-64 turion, running Vistax64.

now you should confirm that it's running at 800mhz by using CPU-Z and not downclocked to 667mhz.

It is, on high performance mode the memory speed increases to its rated max. I checked it right after I installed it using CPU-Z.

Hey I was wondering if you could tell me what memory you used with your laptop and where can I buy it. I have an HP Pavillion laptop dv9420us with the same motherboard as yours, and I want to make a RAM upgrade... Any help with this will be appreciated... :)

Next time just start a new thread instead of reviving reaaaally old ones. :D

Anyways, you will need PC-5300 (or 5400, samething), 200 pin, SODIMM ram. That should be all the details. :)

    Yes!

Although HP said that my dv9429us will only support 2gb of ram...my next upgrade will be to 4gb.
