Hi everyone,
Awhile ago I purchased a compaq Z2000 series laptop from bestbuy with the 200m graphics card...I was under the impression that is was the dedicated video memory version...I tried some games and the graphics speed was not good at all and I found out later that it was the shared version of the card (too late for a return of course). Well now my neighbor is looking for a laptop and might buy this one from me (they wont be doing anything that requires a good graghics card) so I am wondering what laptop you would reccomend? I am looking for something in the 1000 to maybe 1300 dollar range, nothing too big to travel with, widescreen and with a dedicated graphics card. I plan on doing some gaming and maybe a little 3d editing so I need something relatively fast, although I wont be doing any highly intensive gaming on it. Not sure about what processor would be best, is it worth it to try and find a 64 bit processor so that it is compatable with future software (my v2000 has a 64bit turion 1.8ghz processor)?
Thanks
Dan

64-bit is more future-proof but is more of a rarity in laptops that aren't either, very expensive, huge, budget with weak igps, etc..
I think your best bet is the Dell Inspiron E1505 which you can nearly max out with $1250 and a Dell coupon for 750 off any $1999+ laptop. Even though it only has an X1400 in it, with $1300 and not wanted something too big that's some of the best you can get. -

Maybe try one of these?

Turion, X1600 GPU, 15.4" widescreen.
Or wait for the Turion X2's and see if HP surprises us with a decent GPU this time. (Hey, it could happen, theoretically...) -
wow that xmeld system looks sweet! I saw the price and couldnt beleive it but then I saw that it was the barebones price lol...
How about this acer newegg has it really cheap considering everthing it has plus the graphics card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16834115223 I just wish I could find a system like this with a 64 bit processor for a comparable price...when are those turion x2s expected to be released?

Whoa, that Acer's a pretty good deal! My opinion, but the dealbreaker for me is that it isn't widescreen :/.
The Turion X2s are coming in like a couple of months, so you may want to wait. -
Oh man - Brian - you always amaze me. U always know where to find those gadgets. I just WOWWWWW when I see this baby. The price bite me, though, LOL...
Yes, but theoretically.... please surprise us before the end of this month AMD... I hate the idea of a couple of month from now =( -
Hey thanks for the replies everyone. I also came across this site http://www.buyxg.com/ It looks like it has great deals for the price...dedicated graphics and everything. Anyone have any opinions on this site or experience w/ them? It looks like they might be selling some of cyberpowerpc's systems...I thought I read somewhere that they have a bad reputation as far as customer service goes. What do you think?
Thanks
