What exactly is in the SwSetup folder? Some of the folder names are obvious but the others, i don't know what it is. I'm thinking of doing a clean install, i was wondering if the verisoft access manager software is in it, and if the things/installers i need for the tablet pc function is there not not. If yes, which folder is it in?

    thx

Yeh can you give me a screenshot of the things your not sure about and I'll tell you what they are. Why do you want to do a clean install anyway?

    Hi,

I want to do a fresh install as well coz the OS installed does not support the applications I want to run. Could you please tell me if the SwSetup folder will contain all that would be required for all the hardware components of the laptop to work fine.

It contains the drivers and programs built in your laptop. The drivers you can get from HP but the programs is not available. Copy this folder or burn to disc before doing a clean install. If you are using Vista it will find the appropriate drivers for you automatically 99% of the time. If you're going to clean install XP then download the XP drivers from HP prior if any.

Almost all the programs/drivers are on HP's website. There's just one that I know of that's not. It has something to do with quickplay.

You can get virtually everything that is in the SWSETUP folder from the HP website; however, you can also just burn a CD with a copy of the SWSETUP folder. I have a burned CD that I have never gone back to for any purpose, but the point is that I could if I wanted to. ;)

On a related topic, if you have a MSOCACHE folder, do burn a CD of it, or better, allow Office to recreate it when you reinstall Office. It's purpose is to provide the needed information when Office updates come along so you do not have to insert the actual Office CD.

If you want quickplay to play blue-ray roms, you'll need quick play from this folder
