    (E14 owner here)
I have noticed certain programs in Windows Live Essentials 2011 programs (Messenger, Mesh) will stop responding when the selected graphics processor is the Intel Integrated HD. When switched to the ATI card, all is well.

I noticed IE9 Beta crashes as well (although you can disable hardware acceleration in the options to resolve).

I am assuming this is a driver issue? I thought the Intel integrated chip has hardware acceleration built in...

seems to be an issue with the program and/or the drivers.

they use hardware acceleration but don't look for/can't use hardware acceleration with the intel gpu.

really not a fan of the new live essentials. even running in the background comsumes too much cpu/memory in my opinion. I was using it for windows live sync, but have since moved on to syncplicity.

It's a bummer. Guess we're held hostage until HP updates the drivers.

On a side note, has anyone been successful using an external monitor with the Intel GPU active? I have tried both HDMI and MDP without success (the Intel settings show my monitor, but no picture appears). ATI, of course, works fine.

Just seems the laptop runs cooler with the Intel GPU; for non 3D-centric / general use, I prefer the Intel GPU.

I agree, a bit too bloated. I utilize mesh a lot for my development work.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that's normal. I may have read somewhere saying external monitors only work with ATI GPU.
