Every few days the scroll function of my Synaptics touchpad stops working. The only way I've been able to get it working again is to restart the computer, which is a real pain.

If I go to Device Manager and check out the mouse properties, I'm told everything is functioning properly. An update check of the drivers shows it's up-to-date. If I try to do anything in mouse properties, that dialog box quits responding. Attempting to click on to the Synaptics Pointing Device in the systems tray produces no response.

And, alas, the posts I've read during my search for a solution have been disappointing.

So, here's a last ditch effort. Have you been able to solve this problem, or have you given up?

And please don't write how you don't care for the scroll function anyway and disabled it. ;) Many of us do; we just want it to work.

    Thanks,
    Bill

That's an earlier version to the 11.0.7.0 (if I remember correctly), but I'll uninstall the later version and give it a whirl. But, I get to restart the computer anyway. ;)

    Thanks,
    Bill

Latest drivers should be in this lot HP support The 11.0.7.0 drivers seem to be the wrong ones if the HP site is to be believed.
But I reckon those on that synaptics site are more up to date than those on the HP site.

You may be right. At any rate, I uninstalled the Synaptics driver in order to install the one which flipfire had linked. I had to reboot and the computer reverted to the PS/2 Compatible Mouse Driver. It's working, so I think I'll just go with it and see if the scroll function becomes disabled again.

The Synaptics issue has been ongoing with me, sometime more frequently than at other times, but evidently widespread according to the posts which a search at NBR produces.

Update: I downloaded and installed the latest driver from nVideo (laptopvideotogo.com): 11.2.4.0. So far, so good.
