    Hi guys,
I did a clean install of XP on my machine which shipped with Vista. I had created a recovery disc, but I lost them. :(
When I did the clean install, I left the HP Recovery Partition in tact.
Is there any way I can access the recovery partition to get my machine back to Vista. I tried F11 at boot up and doesn't take me any where. I sold my laptop and the new buyer wants the original OS. (HP Pavilion dv2000)
I know I made a mess of things by losing the recovery disc but any help would be appreciated.

If you go into the Windows disk manager and set the other partition as active, then reboot, that might get it to boot to the recovery partition.

I think it's already active. When I right click the drive, there is an option..."Mark Partition as Active" but you can't select it.

I notice my C: drive is set to Healthy(Boot) under status and HP_RECOVERY (D :) is set to Healthy(System) under status.
Maybe changing this will work? If so, how do you change D: to Boot.
    I don't know...

When booting using F11, make sure to hold down the key right after you turn on the computer. It doesn't give you a lot of time to catch it, and usually once you see the "F11" message, it's too late.

Otherwise, I think I remember someone talking about fixing the MBR to get this to work, but you'll have to search around the forums here.
