Ok, I just bought a DV900t with the T7500 and two days after I ordered it the T7700 came out. I called HP and tried to cancel my order to upgrade but they wouldn't cancel it because the order was already sent to the factory. I just received the laptop in the mail today and I just want to open it up and start using it, but I wanted to send it back and reorder with the T7700.

I wanted your opinions on the processors and if it is really worth the 2 weeks I will have to wait and the $100 extra it costs. Please give details with your opinions and why you feel that way. I will be using this laptop for gaming (yes I know it only comes with the 8600m GS, but I looked around and liked this laptop the most and it has full 64-bit support) and a lot of intensive applications.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Keep the laptop; the (small) difference is not worth two weeks and 100 bucks.

I doubt it is necessary. I was wrestling with a similar problem when ordering my t61p last week but I finally decided the upgraded cpu was not worth it. The graphics card will have far more of an effect on your gaming experiences than that extra 200 Mhz.

Definitely not worth it. I would go as far as downgrading do a 7300. The money you save can be better spent elsewhere (more ram, faster hard drive) that will make a helluva lot more difference than a mere .2GHz

I was just looking around the forum and found a 20% off coupon for the dv9500t and if I send my laptop back and use the coupon it will be the same price for the 2.4Ghz compared to the 2.2Ghz. So it comes down to whether I want to wait another two weeks for the laptop :( such a hard decision.

Thanks again for your opinions, and thanks in advance for future opinions.

I don't think you'll expect a significant boost in performance. Just save up your money. :)

I say trade it in, 2 weeks are worth bragging rights. Just my opinion. You said it wouldn't cost anymore so thats my choice.

It looks like these expired 5 days too soon for me to use :( But if someone tells me they can only be used on HP's site and not costco.com I'll feel better.

The coupons are only good for buying HP products online. The products you buy from resellers are at a better price, for the most part, than buying the products online and customizing the options.

The new 20% off coupons is for the dv2500t, dv6500t, and dv9500t and is good until 9/12/07.
I found the coupon inside the following thread:

    Hope this helps!

Thanks! I'll try it all out although it seems to come within 50$ of the costco price. I'll play with it though

So I decided to return the laptop I received today and re-order it. I not only upgraded the processor to the 2.4Ghz,but I got an extra high capacity 8-cell battery for only $60 more because of the new 20% off coupon! :D

So all in all I got a great deal on the laptop I wanted and I have no more hesitations about it. Thank you all for your feedback I appreciate it very much! :)

I'm glad it only took you the first try to get it right, lol :D
I don't mind that it took me two times, as long as I got the laptop I wanted, which I did. Good luck with your laptop! I know I'll definitely enjoy mine :D

P.S. It never takes the full build time they tell you. The laptop I'm returning now I ordered last Monday and got it today, so I'm guessing (if you ordered the laptop today as well) that it should come in end of next week. The nice thing is, you don't have to pay for the 2day shipping, they always send it to you 2day even if you don't pay for it!

The first laptop I bought came in really quick. The next one took a few weeks longer. It all depends on when you order it, their workload, an their supply of parts.
