    Hello,
I've got a tc4200. 1.7mhz, 1gb ram. I bought it used, seems to be pretty solid save the fact that no matter what I do I cant seem to get the processor to budge from 789mhz.

Power schemes make no difference. Suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Josh

What software are you using to meaure this. If you are using Win XP and using the system menu reading then this isnt often reliable. Use a real time utility like CPU-Z at idle and load.

thanks guys. CPU-Z confirms that windows has no clue what the processor is doing. My CPU kicks up to full speed when needed.

Is it possible to have my pc idle lower if I want?

    thanks,
    Josh

If you are not using you notebook the cpu will run at it`s lowest speed anyway until you need it to be faster, unless you have loads of application running on your taskbar.

I remove all but the essential ones to keep my idle temps down.

Try the free Glary Utils it has a startup-manager and a loads of other great stuff.
