    Hi guys.

I recently bought an analog tuner package for my dv9225 which I'm running Ultimate 32 bit, & I had no problems setting up the tuner at all.

The 1st couple of weeks it recorded great but these past couple of weeks I've come home to a balloon in my status bar telling me "program failed to record".

I finally narrowed it down that media center telling was not "seeing" the tune & telling me that "no tuner was installed" even though it was plugged in correctly.

I ended up having run the setup all over again so media center "saw" the tuner.
Everything else, guide, prerecorded program settings & other settings remained, just the lately not seeing the tuner.

Anyone else run into this "issue"?

    Thanks.

    C'mon guys/gals!

With such a knowledgeable forum as this, no one has any media center knowledge / input?

Sorry bud, havent run into any issues with Media Center and the tuner.

Just make sure all the Windows Media Center services (all four of them) are not disabled in the Windows Services Configuration (services.msc).

What brand and part number tuner did you buy?

I have a feeling that your tuner hardware may be failing. I had a similar issue in my desktop MCE 2005 and I had "no tuner installed" message when it was working for six months. It turned out to be a defective tuner. I returned it for an exchange since it was covered under one year warranty.

I have messed with media center a lot. The problem that you are probably having is that the usb thing that you plug into your PC that allows the remote for Media Center to work you need to plug that into a usb slot and then take the cord that should come with the Media Center remote and everything. If you don't have the Media Center Remote and all the cord then you will not be able to get Media Center to work. After the cord is tapped onto the reciever of the satellite box and the other end in plugged into the usb thing that came with your Media Center remote everything should work fine. I don't know if it is still a problem with Media Center or not. But I have had problems where it would set up the Media Center options for satellite without any problems then all of the sudden it would ask for a the IR Cable which has to be tapped onto the receiver on the satellite box. It is weird it sometimes asks for it even though it has worked before without it. Media Center really doesn't need the IR control Cable to record shows Microsoft just likes to show of the latest technology and stuff with the ability to change the channel from your PC. Which is a really nice feature but it can be a pain for people who don't want to use this feature because the cord got broke or the cord isn't long enough and they still want to record with the program but they can't do that because media center will not record without it. Also a quick fix to any problems with media centers settings or if it is messing up. I think this one is for Windows Vista Only but I am not sure it may work on windows xp media center 2005. Click on "Administrative Tools" Then "services" and continue and least for Vista. And for everything that says Windows Media Center or something similar click restart service.

On our month old HDX9000 We've recorded 16 hours so far and am all set to record SCC Sunday and Monday nights. We hope we don't run into the problem you have. But just in case we also setup DVR. After all we have been waiting 8 years for this show to air.
But we havn't had any problems recording with media center up to now and I hope it stays that way.
QuickPlay on the other hands generates some error at statup called.
So we just use Windows Media center instead.
Hope you can find a solution to your problem.
