I searched the forum and could not find help, so, I guess I will have to post!![]()
I just got my new TX1115NR 3 days ago. I tried to do what I always do when ever I get a new PC: backing it up with ACRONIS 10 Home. On the TX the screen just freezes after a while when I try to reload my backup and I have no idea what causes the problem!
Up to now ACRONIS always worked - even on difficult machines but the HP TX1115NR drives me nuts!
I am that kind of guy who needs to reload backups at least twice a week (testing lots of stuff on my laptop). Now the problem is: I can back up but can't restore the backups ...![]()
Anybody an idea why?

This would probably be best left to Acronis tech support. I'm using Acronis True Image 10 on my Vista DV6305US and it works great. I've been using Acronis True Image 9 on my XP desktop for a while too, and it works great too (just can't get backups-to-dvd to work right).
You could try booting from the Acronis rescue disk (or partition if you have it set up that way). Generally the bootable stand-alone versions of True Image seem to have less problems. -
ACRONIS TECHNICAL SUPPORT have no idea - they say I might have a foulty CPU.
In my opinion it might be that the ATA hard drive is not compatible but ACRONIS Tech support says it is ...
Well,
I have the device now for 2 days and contacted HP Techical Support too. They said I need to mail it in for service - but previous experiences with HP Repair tell me not to do so!
I would have exchanged it in the store just to make sure that it is really not the CPU but they do not have any left ...
Are there other VISTA compatible backup solutions available (beside SYMANTEC's GHOST 12)? -
Wait a second. I remember this problem. It only does it when you click recovery. I had this problem before but I can't remember what I did to fix it. I think it did this on a factory install of Vista, but was fixed when I deleted all the partitions and reinstalled Vista (via upgrade anytime dvd).

Hmmm,
that can't be it! I have already a clean installation of VISTA HOME PREMIUM 32bit running on the machine (already my 3rd installation and activation because of testing out ACRONIS).
I just tried to install SUSE 10 on the laptop and it freezes there too - so, I am starting to believe that there is either something wrong with the CPU or there is some kind of 'protection / firmware' on the hard drive which just does not work properly. It is a FUJISU 120GB ATA hard drive and says even something about firmwar on the label ... That confused me, I never had a hard drive whci requires firmware ...
