Anyone know if the Targus APM12US is compatible with the dv9500t? If so, does it come with the correct tip or do I have to order it seperately?
Here's the link to the one that's on sale at CompUSA.

OK, so after I placed the order I did a little more research and I think there might be a problem. The universal adapter states that it only goes up to 16 Volts and I think that the dv9500t requires more (18v?).
Can anyone confirm what the voltage output is on their dv9500t AC adapter? -
My dv9500t cto adapter/power brick says output is 19v

Thanks. The universal power adapter doesn't look very universal.

I guess a better question would be what is the input voltage range on the dv9500t. Is there a label on the bottom of the laptop with that information?
Can anyone check their laptop for that information. I still don't have mine yet. It was scheduled to ship by today but I still haven't heard anything from HP.
Thanks! -
Well it turns out that Compusa didn't cancel my order and now this item is on its way. So just for grins I wrote Targus and asked if this model was compatible. Here is there response:
-
I have the APM12 and a fairly new DV9500 -- It does work. Targus must have just recently announced compatability, as a couple months ago it wasn't on the list and they said 'no' when I called them. Now its on their website.
The only thing that bothers me is my S1 tip takes much greater force to plug into my laptop than the stock HP tip does, although the tips look essentially identical...
It took me a while to get the courage to push as hard as required ..then it doesn't come back off easily, either. After having to replace the internal power plug twice on my wife's 3 year old Averatec notebook, this makes me nervous. I'd be curious to know if yours goes on easily or not. -
Thanks for the reply. My adapter should arrive today so I'll let you know if it works and how hard the tip is to insert.
I also had a chat session with an HP tech rep who said that the adapter will work. -
UPDATE - Just got this in and it works great. Turns out that the web site documentation was wrong and the output voltage goes up to 24V DC and it's 90W so I'm not too concerned that it's not providing enough voltage.
The included S1 tip fit fine and I didn't have the problem that Scrawner had with it being too tight. If anyone's interested, you can still get this for $20 at the link in my first post. I think this is a good deal considering it's both an AC and car adapter.
