How many processes do you have to run in background? Mine is 74 (excluding Firefox). Is it a bit too many?

Mine is at 56 running processes after a clean install on a 7200 RPM drive and about 10 of those are from third party software after the clean install. You say you have a Merom T5600 in your dv6000 have you checked that with CPU-Z or RMClock? I was hoping for the merom and they gave me a conroe in my current lappy as well as the previous one that they replaced. I've been curious if I would get better battery life and if the infamous whine would not have been present if I got a merom. Just thought I would check.

It's impossible that they gave you a notebook with a Conroe processor in it.

    Conroe is desktop only.
