Hiya guys, I'm sorta new here.
I have a dv2815nr (amd turion tl-60, 1mb L2, 1600m system bus; 14.1" wxga, 3gb ram, nvidia 7150m) and it works well for me, though I wish i could play games on it better.
Anyways, I undervolted the processor to a 0.9250 VID, which manages to take some of the heat off the processor. However, the temperatures, I think, are still too high.
Temperature when waking up after a while: ~35C
Idle Temperature: ~55C
Web Surfing Temperature: ~68C
Windows Movie Maker Temperature:~80C
I've propped up the feet so the heatsink sights about 3/4 an inch off the table, and it sits above a metal box.
I've heard that HP laptops are somewhat warmer than most, but is mine still too hot? It'd be great if there are still ways to reduce the temperature.

Your temperatures seem typical of an AMD based notebook coupled with HP's average thermal design.
If you would like to reduce your temperature, you can do one of many things. First, clean out all of your vents to make sure dust isn't blocking airflow. Second, you can purchase some thermal paste and apply it to the CPU. If it is done properly, the worst that the thermal paste can do is keep the same temperatures. It is very likely to lower your temps by increasing thermal conductivity of the interfacem between the heat sink and the processor. Lastly, you can purchase a notebook cooler to maintain lower temperatures.
Good luck. -
What's your ambient temperature (basically, room temperature)? If you're in a hot environment, your laptop will inevitably run warmer.
How old is your laptop? Have you opened it up to check for dust clogging your heat vent(s)? -
Right now it's in the high sixties, low seventies where I usually use this computer in.
I bought this computer in june of last year. Is that long enough to do a vent clean-up? I'm guessing it wouldn't be hard if i did have to open it up
