Not sure if there is a thread for this, but if so feel free to redirect me :D
Anyways, when I'm gaming (LoL/HoN) my CPU hits temps of 86ish, and BF3 brings my CPU into the 90s. Is this about right or does it sound a bit high? I'm using a 9-cell battery and a laptop cooler (G4 Titan).

If it is hot, are there any recommendations on how to lower the temperatures? Thanks!

That's pretty high, especially since you're using the 9-cell battery which should let more air get under the laptop and a laptop cooler. I couldn't say what's causing the temperatures though.
One thing you could try is reducing the max processor state to around 90% in power options.

90% is a bit low when gaming. set it to 99% to disable TurboBoost. that alone shaved off around 6C off the CPU temperatures on my laptop.

its normal for these laptops but unless you plan on not upgrading the laptop in the next 5 years it shouldnt really matter if it gets that hot

or you can shave off some degrees and some frames and use coolest mode in HP coolsense

thats normal temps for sandy bridge cpus, you can turn coolsense on if you want it to run cooler but i think it disables turbo boost

I have an i5 as well, I don't know how much worse that would mean...haha. How would I decrease the processor state/access power options?

Thanks a lot! I'll give this some testing and see how it turns out. Do you adjust the minimum processor state as well or just max?

I've never messed with the minimum processor state. I guess it may help reduce idle temperatures, but I don't know how it'd effect performance.

Set the minimum processor to 98% or 99% percent for better performance. Or set it to 0%, to have the lowest idle processor's temperature.

setting the minimum to 98% (or 99%) will make for a lot of heat generated for nothing. best to leave it at what it is, if you ask me, and only disable TurboBoost. then again, to each his own...so, peace :)
