Hello.
I read dv6700's review & it's bottom temp was about 102F(38C). Man thats too hot, particularly when i reside in hot humid region. This can affect my buying decision.
Query is are do all HP notebooks have about same temprature? Can you suggest me some HP(pavilion/compaq) models which dissipate less heat?

The only way to get away with it is have a better physical design which will isolate the heat from parts the user 'feels' and channel it out using the chassis vents/fan. Maybe the business line is made of different materials?
-
38 is hot?! man you're too choosy, dont use it on your lap. this temperature is probably under significant load. every modern processor with decent processing power will get hot.
-
I see. I had no idea about how much hot do notebooks get, thatts why i am asking. I read review of HP Compaq 6720s(business lineup) & review said that it runs cold & doesnt get hot.

actually, 38C isn't that bad. I have experienced much worsein the past.
-
yeah its true, dv laptops will have a warmer bottom half specially near the HD area.
I suggest getting a business laptop, all of the ones ive come across seems to run cool all around. -
Well, the only business laptop i can get hold of is HP6720s, but Xirurg points out that its worse than dv series. Whats your views?

Are HP Compaq series all business series? Like Compaq 752 etc? -
Id go with the 8710 series.. they will definately run cooler and HP always prioritizes their business line first
Hes only saying DV because he knows its a entertainment notebook and you said watching dvd's... -
yeah he's right the business models run cery cool but 38 C is nothing to worry about either.
my friend's ASUS gets 100C sometimes , I think it is because of the more powerful GPU (8600gt), and so HP's chosen the 8400GS instead for its multimedia lappies. -
lol! imagine what 100c case temperature was like, if it were true! -
You should see steam at 100C from the humidity in the air boiling.... Your lappy would look like it had a jet engine.
