I am looking for a second laptop to my Emachines 5312. I need this one to be more of a desktop replacement that can play the newest generation of games (half-life 2, Doom3, etc). Would the 7000 series be able to do this very well? Portability is really not an issue since I have the Emachines to lug around. I see a decked out 7000 series at Best Buy for 2400 and change which is very expensive for me, but they do 12 months same as cash which would help. I also notices that the hpshopping web site was doing the 12 months SAC as well. Any input would be appreciated.

I don't know about the 5700 performance, but I currently have the 5600 in my zd7000, and the gaming is quite good. I haven't played D3 or HL2 or CS:S, but I've played Halo, CoD, and a bunch of other games, and it performs very well. If you're looking for a zd7000 I am currently selling mine for around 2000$, pretty well decked out. If you're interested or want any more info, email me at [email protected].
