I've had my dv9500t for 4 months then all of the sudden I've been getting Bluescreen for no apparant reason. Is this a "Vista" problem or a problem with my registry? Its starting to crash more and more frequently and I have no idea what to do.
Thanks

Have you recently added any new hardware? software? made some sort of change to your system? Usually when I've had problems, they've occurred as a result of something I've done - usually something dumb!

What exactly is the error message you are receiving on the blue screen? Are you running several applications when it comes up?
I have yet to make the Vista move but you would think they would have gotten rid of the blue screen....... -
The Only Programs I had installed were a few games Oblivion, Bf2142, etc to test the graphics, winamp, gomplayer and office 2007...I dont understand why I'm already getting the bluescreen.

Maybe it's time to run malware scans, and/or clean up the startup apps and running processes. I've read that quite a few apps conflict with Vista and cause problems, but don't really have any idea whether those you list are among the programs which Vista doesn't seem to like. I've seen lists of Vista compatible apps, but am not sure where. Google might be able to help if compatibility ends up being the issue.

You can try googling the error code you get, it could be any of the following:
1) hardware failure (harddrive, RAM, etc)
2) driver problems (graphics, sound, etc)
3) software issues (incompatibility)
4) OS (vista has been known to throw tantrums, but there might be a hotfix from MS) -
As you have be facing the issue with the blue screen let me tell u that the issue could persist if the hard drive is not working properly....
1. Go to BIOS and in TOOLS/DIAGONSIS tab do a short test and a long test of the hard drive... If it pass then the hard drive is working fine but if it fails then it has to be replace.
2. If any external peripherals are connected then unplug them and try booting up.
3. Or do a reinstallation of the os and the issue will be resolved.
Let me know the results. -
I personally would recommend a reinstall of the OS as a last resort if it is definitively known that the BSOD was due to a software issue and the issue itself could not be isolated.
Next time, the BSOD shows up, jot down the error code, file names mentioned (if at all), and anything the msg said that referenced specific codes and/or causes. It might help if you could take a picture of the screen and post it. Then either google what you jotted down, or post it here so we can try to see if anyone can find a cause.
