Hi everyone! I was just wondering which HP would be better over all and also better over all for the money. I know that I can get more right off the bat for cheaper with the HP dv5z but I don't know how good the battery life is on the HP dv5z (with the 3200 IGP) compared with the HP dv5t (with the NIVIDIA 9200). I also know that in order for the graphics card on the HP dv5t to match the graphics card in the HP dv5z (3200 IGP), I would have to spend another $100 for the NIVIDIA 9200. I will be using this laptop for pretty much everything except gaming. So which one is better over all? The HP dv5t or the HP dv5z???
P.S.: can anyone who owns a HP dv5t tell me what the battery life is on power saver and full brightness, also someone who owns a HP dv5z tell me what the battery life is on power saver and full brightness.
Thankyou

Since you wont be doing any gaming, there's really no sense in getting the 9200. The x4500 and 3200 will be more than adequate for every day usage.
-
oh I was concerned because of applications that I may use like photoshop, or watching hi-def stuff, and I wasn't sure about how the HDMI would work that great with the Intel x4500
-
AMD with 3200 would be better for HD playback then Intel with X4500. Best Buy sells 1003NR with blu-ray drive for $750 (you can get additional $100 off if you subscribe to broadband). I couldn't resist. If you configure the same PC on HP.com you won't even get close as they will force you opt for 3450 graphics card. Initially I was planning to spend over $1000 on Intel based PC but then I thought why and simply purchase 10003. These laptops don't show remaining battery life time. I tried installing 3rd party application with no luck. You can see reviews in the review section for both models to get an idea of how long they last. Note that DV5t was reviewed with high capacity battery.

Yeah but I'm just concerned about the battery life on the HP dv5z without the high capacity 6 cell battery because the battery life sucks on it with the regular battery considering I'm also going to be using this at school (I'm a sophomore in high school)

brianstretch Notebook Virtuoso
Adding the GeForce 9200 to the Intel notebook will narrow its battery life advantage over the AMD notebook, if not eliminate it, plus at this point I trust ATI more than NVIDIA and waaaay more than Intel.
Surely your school has made it possible for you to plug in your notebook at least some of the time?
The notebook tpaxadpom referenced is an awesome deal. Ideally I'd order direct from hp.com for maximum flexibility but, hey, a deal's a deal. -
Go with the dv5z it will perform better overall for video and 3d games for at the lesser price point.
-
yeah they have places where i can plug it in but I still want good battery life with customization too so I think I'll be ordering the HP dv5z through hp.com instead of that best buy one. Thanks for the advice

I will be getting the HP dv5z directly from hp.com

Good Choice!! I had the older model dv6000 but didn't enjoy it on my lap even with a cooler, HOT
. It went off to college with my son, and now I have a new dv5z and it is like night and day, so much cooler.

woot Brandenkhan15!

i have a dv6000 too and **** its hot as hell and noisy too
i went with the dv5t though, which apparently is better on batteries and heat than the amd solution.
The HP dv5t or HP dv5z???
