When is HP going to start offering this new card? "The Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN"
-
dunno but if they ever offer it Ill be swaping out mine with luck so I can get an N standard router
-
you think you can just swap the built in Intel wireless card for a new one? I hear these cards were built for the new Intel Pro (Santa Rosa) Chipset so don't know if they will work with the old chipset.
-
The wireless card installed shouldnt have anything to do with what motherboard chipset it has. If memory serves you can open the bottom of your laptop and see the wireless card sitting there. So if they ever come out with N Im all over it sice the 9000 doesnt ave a pcmica slot

brianstretch Notebook Virtuoso
Unless HP still has a whitelist in their BIOS of "approved" miniPCI WiFi cards for each notebook model. Last I knew they still do. I ran into this the hard way.
-
But thats also why I said if HP starts adding them to their notebooks. If I ever see it offered then Ill buy it as a replacement part and go from there. I would love to double my bandwith.

Looks we'll have to wait for close to April before we see it around
-
The 4965AGN will run fine on the Napa platform.
You just have to emulate the third antenna, cause on Napa you have only two antennas. -
Why would we need 3 antenna for the N product? Not all N routers and cards have 3 antenna
-
No, the 3945ABG has 2 antennas, and only one can be used at a time.
The 4965AGN has 3 antennas that he can use at the same time, that is why the speed and distance are higher.
On the Napa platform there is only 2 antenna connections, so if you want to use 4965AGN you have to emulate the 3rd antenna. -
how do you emulate the 3rd antenna?
-
4965 has 2x range more than 3945 with A/B/G connection? or just N
