    OMG I hate this touchpad!

Why did HP make it so big that more than 1 finger can fit in it and then it would be hard to scroll.

Why is it when I tap the touchpad it makes a sound (It should be silent)

Why is it soo damn big!

Why is it that there's no up/down scroll on the right side

Why is it that when I put 2 fingers to scroll up/down it doesn't do it consistently!

    WHY HP WHY!!!

Do you guys think that we'll be able to swap out the current touchpad with the new 4 point one coming out?

    GET REILS TOUCHPAD APP, NOW!

I hated it when I first got it, now it's one of the best I've used. Apparently the software engineers at HP aren't that great. Once you tweak it, it's pretty good. Probably second only to the Macbooks.

It makes the touchpad actually usable. I haven't tried the other touchpad app yet, but I can say for certain that Reils app makes a HUGE difference in the usability of the touchpad. It should be one the first things you install once you get your new Envy.

I've used all the other options, reil's is the best one. Save yourself the time, and learn to configure reil instead of trying the other ones.

I'm having trouble installing reil's program. I keep getting the following System Error:

"The program can't start because MSCVR100.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this program."

Is that file from the original driver? How do I fix this?

the two finger scroll program posted earlier is complete garbage at its default setting. It zooms into and out of the page more than actually scrolling. I've read great things about reil's program but cant get it to work on my envy because of the same Net framework error even though i have installed the C+++ pack

after you install that c++ thing you get an error. google what it says in the error and it will show you exactly what else you need to download. sorry i can't remember the specifics but thats what i did and it worked.

i have no idea why you guys are getting that error. as i developed the app, i also gave it to a friend, he only needed to install the visual c++ 2010 x86 runtime for it to work.

maybe try installing the .net 4.0 framework? i don't normally develop windows applications, so i'm not sure how to determine which runtime dependencies are needed by others...

Make sure that you run the Windows updater and that you install any framework related updates. I was having the same problem and this fixed it for me.

Thanx for the responses guys! I finally got it to work, I just kept updating the windows update and it worked! Now I guess I just have to tweak it.

I read somewhere that I have to disable something with synaptics, what do we disable?

Reil- Is there a setting u recommend? Im really not sure where to make the adjustments, Id rather copy a setting that u think works best.

Ive been playing with the settings, but I really would like to remove the 2finger up/down scroll. It's disabled in the Synaptics but I don't know how to disable it in Reil's app. I like using the circular up/down scroll instead.

Also from the threads, they say to disable the tapping from Synaptics, but everytime I do, few minutes later it enables automatically, since i start to get double clicking.??

You want to disable the single tap/touch to click in either Reil's app or in the Synaptics settings. They both do the same thing, so if you have it enabled in both, it registers a double click because it's executing the command twice. I found it better to disable it in Reil's app and leave it on in the Synaptics settings.

^yeah that's what I did, when i did it the other way around and disabled synaptics, for some reason it would eventually enable itself for no apparent reason.

Now how to we disable the 2 finger scroll? I only use the circular scroll

using reil's app currently, been surfing the web for a few hours now and although not perfect it works for now. i would also like the best configuration that worked for everybody as im finding myself zoom into and out pages by accident quite often.

jdane when i saw ure first post i was so relieved you made it cause i was like wth is wrong with this touchpad. as you still as frustrated as before? lol also, i kinda wish the touchpad had the right and bottom finger scroll bars like my old laptop did, although not as nice as a perfectly working multi-touch touchpad, they did the trick for me.

I agree, I would like to find someone who has all the settings for us to just follow, coz I'm kinda a newb when it comes to figuring out on making all the adjustments.

As for the touchpad, I was definitely frustrated because it's such a great laptop but such a bad touchpad. I hated how big it was that we would accidentaly put more than 1 finger on it by accident. I hated how it didnt have the scroll on the right side, but since now I figured out we can set that, it helped tremendously.

Have you tried using the circular scroll? To go down the page up and down, you do circular motion on the pad, I think it's neat!! Makes browsing more fun.

I guess to sum it up, I'm learning to tap instead of clicking, so as long as we can tweak it some more, I'll be fine with it.

Quick question, when u tap the touchpad, does it make a clicking noise? That's the only thing I hate about the laptop now.

no clicking over here unless i tap it where the buttons are supposed to be, everywhere else there is no noise. it could be that you're tapping the area where there are buttons underneath or you could be just beating the s**t out of the touchpad in which case every part of the laptop would make noise. :p

p.s. reil's fix is good and all but everytime i'm two finger scrolling after a few lines of scrolling there's always a huge skip of like 10 lines that throws everything off. Does anyone know how to turn this off?

Is anyone able to set up Reils app to where you can still have a finger resting on the left mouse button without having the mouse stop moving or it going into to finger scroll mode? When I have it off this works but then I have to deal with Synaptics crappy two finger scrolling!

you won't be able to set that up. synaptics scrolling won't trigger unless you put two fingers down around the same time. i have no such gating logic, since i modeled mine around how a mac does it where any time there are two fingers on the pad, whether you put them down at the same time or not, causes two finger scroll to happen.

to people wanting to sharing settings, you could just export the reg entries, its under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\envyTouchPad

i've never had that occur on mine. can you explain how to reproduce it? does it jump after you lift your fingers up or while you're scrolling? are you scrolling near or across the white lines?

What do people have inertia set to on Reil's? I can't seem to find a good setting. It's so jumpy when scrolling!
