lol, I thought this'd be about the latest US hospital drama

I see 3 conclusions
A) It'll come Friday 7th - Tuesday 12th and we all go off into the sunset happy
B) In desperation we talk to laptopsdirect about shipping it to our dorm rooms. So everyone else parties whilst we all sit indoors waiting for the delivery person. Hmm
C) Get a different, not as good deal! Asus F3JA anyone?

 

I dont think we'll recieve it on the friday, i mean theyre only getting the stock in then. if people have next day delievery youll get it on the sat, i live in n.ireland so its 1-2 for me, so itll probably be monday, i hope to god. i was thinking about that dorm room delievery too, might have to do that. and i wont be getting a different one i dont think, im willing to wait for the laptop.

in conclusion, we shouldnt have anymore problems, hope to high heaven we dont.

 

Yay! They just phoned me up and said I'll get it Tuesday at the latest, they swear on it

If the nc8430 isn't here by early next week i'll probably spend a bit more and get a DV8333EA from here.

It's 17" but my cousin has the DV8396EA (also 17") and says the battery life is okay and in a backpack not that heavy. It comes with Core Duo, go7600 graphics, a two year warranty and is of business class build.

 

Side Note:

My significant other will be away for several day next week. I was thinking about renting a Battlefield 2 server and calling it nc8430 just for all us to get together and frag. Unfortunately upon learning how expensive that would be I abandoned the idea.

My dv2000t was shipped today. I guess i'll probably have it the first of the week.

Ah doesn't matter. We should all demand next day delivery, or 3 days delivery if built to order

The thing i like about ordering laptops from Dell is that i'm in MO and Dell is located in Texas so it's usually delivered the next day after it ships.

 

Aren’t the Dell notebooks built abroad or have they started assembling them in the US?

aha i nearly **** my drawrs. thought u ordered a nc8430 XD. i need mine for before 16th, well not need, just would be easier to have for moving to uni.

 

The nc8430 XD looks like a really nice laptop.

They're built in China as you know, and customs seems to be the biggest hold up in the shipping process. At least it was on my last one.

I bought the dv8000 last month and it was plagued with keyboard problems. After reading this forum, I found out I wasn't alone. Sent it back right away.

I orderd a day short of 2 weeks ago

However in subsequent telephone calls, I changed my order from the enhanced one to the "normal" one as I wanted it now and my wee heart can't take it any longer Sure the higher processor speed is > than extra 20gb HD, but the T2300 is still a fast processor. It's better than the 2 yr old desktop P4, and Celeron on the other desktop I've been using!

 

They are assembled in Malaysia. They also have factories in few other places around the world. But most of their US bound shipments I think are from Malaysia. HP/Compaq's ship from China. Only some of their workstation level notebooks are built in the US I believe.

I got it 45min ago, 12 noon. For an extra £10 I would have got it by 11am. Man Citylink must make a killing!

I'm off to uni on the 16th too, didnt know they had no stock when i ordered the thing
went for the free delivery aswell, so i doubt i'll be seeing it before i go, but it's not a major catastrophe since i dont plan on spending my freshers week sat at a computer
and im back for the orthodentist the following saturday anyway so i can pick it up then

 

I've just rang up and they're still sticking by Friday, i.e. today, for the restocking of them. I was told to expect it by monday and promised I'll have it before I'm off to uni so I "should" be OK, we'll see.

 

I just took a gander at the laptopsdirect website, if you go to the HP section and look at the NC8430 model (its the 1.83Ghz one) it says that theres 3-5 in stock. I think the last time I looked there it said it was out of stock.

I wonder does that mean they have got their stock delivered?

 

Well I think stock has actually arrived. My order status has just changed to processing payment so it looks like we're in. I might even have it tomorrow if LFC's speedy delivery is any indication.

I've contacted them to try and rectify the problem, hopefully it can be sorted asap

 

Well mine still says processing, I hope the long time to process the payment doesn't mean I'm going to have a problem as well. To be honest though, it might be taking a little longer due to the huge volume of orders going through at the same time.

Edit: Payment taken and waiting for dispatch, excellent. I hope everyone else's has gone through as well then.

 

Just found out the problem, my bank has blocked the transaction because they think its fraudulant, I don't have a clue where they came up with that idea.

Anyway, since its 4.50pm on a Friday my chances of getting this problem sorted now is slim to none

Monday morning I'll have to start again, I trust laptopsdirect will hold the laptop for me until I get this sorted.

Their customer service has been very good thus far.

 

Mine is sayin saying the same,delivery date is 11th on citylink tracking.

no idea where i can get a delivery date, im from norther ireland so i didnt use next day city link. itll probably be famac or parcel force, woman told me on fone ill get it tues/weds at latest, so probably monday WHOO XD. payments been taken and they are dispatching . EVERYONE POST A 'OMFG YES!!' POST WHEN THEY GET THEIRS XD.

 

LFC : Does your 1.66 gig one has a fingerprint thingy ?

The guy who reviewed the "Enhanced" student bundle from Laptops Direct specifically mentioned a fingerprint scanner so I guess we're in luck.

My nc8430 should be arriving today.

I just wish it wasn't with ****tylink, every order i've had with them (four so far) has been "missed" as they don't knock and just put the missed delivery card through the door to save time.

 

you should give them a call before they make the delivery and tell them that you are at home.

 

i wonder what courier they use to deliever to northern ireland?? its being sent to my fiances house so ill get her to put up a note on the door too.
