I have placed my order on Nov.08....and paid $39 extra for 2nd day fedex delivery.
my laptop was suppose to be shipped by nov.18......and even on the 18, it was still showing as not shipped....
i have spoke to the customer service couple of times till yesterday....and every time i called they had a different story....like, it must be stuck in Alaska...or its under testing and 18 is the build date not shipped date and bla bla bla.
i have sent an email to the HP CEO...and got a reply that they are sorry for the delay...due to few parts unavailability they were unable to ship my order....
anyway, atlast, today its shipped....but, guess what, they have shipped it on normal fedex deliver....not 2nd day !!!
again, i have spoke to the resolution center...at hp....(one thing i hate is that every time you call HP, you are connected in China !....and those guyz dont know anything at all....the worse customer service i have every spoke to is HP)
well...what he said that your laptop is a custom laptop, thats why there is a delay....i think he dont understand english....i told him that its already shipped...and he was still saying the same that its custom made and it can be delayed .....
No matter how good they are.....I will never buy HP !
-
probably...they did not understand your english..

Darth Bane Dark Lord of the Sith
sorry to hear that, that's awful.
When I ordered my dv5t, i experienced no problems at all and I am enjoying the laptop very much. -
-
That is not horrible, at least for me it would not be.
Patience....
Have HP credit you for the shipping if it is incorrect.
You are making a delay into a mountain of a problem. There are more important things in life to worry about.
I would be very, very happy to have the HDX16 that is on it's way to you. -
dude,, you have no idea what "Horrible" means. have i got a story for YOU!! I won't explain it all here in the forum, if you want to hear it, PM me for details.
the short of it is this.. I started my fiasco on October 3rd, 2008. It is now November 21st, 2008, and i've had MY laptop for 4 days! other problems, unrelated to shipping. shipping is the smallest problem, you could ever encounter. -
oh!....i thought i am only one facing problems with hp...
i will be sending this laptop back to hp once i receive it....and will be going for Lenovo !! -
Tenspeed post your story here for everyone to read, although they are the exception and not the rule we need to make other people aware of them as I like reading them for the sake of knowing what happens when things go wrong. This makes companies want to improve their customer service and handling. Or at least I like to believe so.
As for the OP I'm sorry that has happened to you I hope you get it quickly at least before Black Friday as more people will make more orders and shipping might get a bit cramped one week from now. -
I'd have to say "all's well that ends well" If I were you before sending it back at least use it for the allowable period of time before you can no longer do so.
As for your complaint put it down to bad PR, because the bright side of this is that HP must be still selling strong even in these tough economic times.
I know I'd be ticked off in not get what was agreed on, a certain delivery date, but if that's the worse experience you have with HP you'd be luckier than most who have a complaint. -
Chill out, it's not that big of a deal. Customer service is dependent on the person, usually there will always be an annoying person at any computer customer service. Just demand to get your shipping cost returned to you, which they should happily do if you get a good sales representive.
-
Unfortunately, mistakes do happen, even in large corporations such as HP. I've heard that HP business laptops receive different customer service from those who purchased an HP consumer laptop such as the Pavillions and they are much better in dealing with issues. Also, customer reps can vary greatly between each rep and this is true for almost any laptop company.

Ok, here is my story, and to be honest, it all started because of a miss typed phone number. But still….
On October 3rd, 2008 My boss was kind enough to lend me the company credit card to purchase a new computer for myself, and I was to pay him back over a set period of time. I thought, GREAT! HP has a 400 dollar coupon that is just begging to be used. Come on, USE ME!! , I actually heard it say that.
I place the order, and everything is fine, or so I think. The next day, I get an email, saying, it was not approved. I call HP, and it turns out, the phone number I used, wasn’t the correct billing number tied to the card. See, my fault. Well, my boss’s fault, for not telling me he changed the contact info on his card.
So, the following Monday, He and I call HP and change the info, work it out, and no problem. NOW.. I have to have the first order canceled and a NEW order placed, this is where it all starts screwing up. The lady who placed my order for me, forgot to include my fingerprint reader, and I didn’t notice it until the next day. I think we’re at Tuesday october 7th now. So, I call back, very apologetic she is, and it’s great, now we have to cancel THAT order, and place a new one, argghhh,, why can’t they just call china, and say,, HEY, see this order number?... yeah,, put a fingerprint reader on it. It really should be that simple, but, it’s not..
Ok, so, now we’re cooking, it’s on it’s way, its going to be fantastic! If you read my earlier posts, you’ll see how excited I was, well, still am,, this is a great computer, and I could not be happier with it.
So, out of the box, I’m playing with it,, it’s now october 23rd at this point in the story. I register it. I shut it off,, turn it on four or so hours later, and BAM!! Nothing… the logo shows up and then, click!.. it shuts down, no message or anything. Reboot, same thing, reboot, same thing.. oh wait, what’s this esc key menu? Oh, ok, we’ll run some diagnostics… memory fine, harddrive fine… reboot, ok, now it boots!.. weird,, what was that… I don’t know.. play with the machine, shut it down,, turn it on.. SAME Thing again.. sigh… what is going on with this, now I’m getting mad… its brand new,, its not supposed to do this….. call hp.. they say.. take battery out. Hold down power button for a minute. Load bios defautls, Replace bat, replace ac, boot, ok, NOW it boots.. no problem. Ok, fine, there’s a fix for this. But why did it happen? They couldn’t tell me. I don’t like it when there is a fix for a problem, when they don’t know what the problem is in the first place. That makes absolutely no sense to me.
Now, I do windows update, and reboot the machine, and bam again, but a diferent problem. If you’ll see the attached photo, you’ll see what happens. No boot loader. Now,, since I don’t HAVE a vista disc that I can boot to, I can’t follow the instructions on the screen. Guess what?... I have to do a complete system restore, thank god I haven’t installed that much crap on my system yet. Well, enough….
Guess what again. HP can’t tell me why that happened either. Ok, so I get it running, its fine, or so I think. I take it to LA with me for a business trip. The second day in, BAM. It won’t boot again. It does the first problem above. Just shuts down after the logo. Ok, I know the fix for this.. reset power button.. guess what.. it does not work.. now I am really P.O. ed!! I call back,, they take my rantings very well actually. Get an RMA number, and send it back, now we have to order yet another computer. Guess what. They get the screen resolution wrong THIS time. Now, to HP’s credit, I was notified by HP themselves of this snafu. Yeah, HP!!! Covered their asses great that time. The dude even let me have the bronze color for free. Now, I know that all sounds good in the end, but there were a couple of times there that the people I talked to were rude and un-caring of my situation. And THAT’s the horrible part for me. Didn’t want to give me what was promised, and such, I had one lady even tell me, that they were being nice to even honor my original coupon, since my order was declined at first. I told her it was all taken care of in the beginning, and all I wanted, was what I paid for. Nothing more, and especially nothing LESS. The other thing that gripes me, is the time it took to accomplish all of this. Oh, and btw, this laptop I am typing on, my new bronze one. It did that no boot loader thing too, it was after a windows update, and I have no idea which one. Has anyone else experienced that? The picture below.
But this time I have a vista disc, I downloaded one from a torrent site, just so I have it. And I was able to repair it. You can’t do that with a recovery disc from HP. It happened again after I uninstalled norton antivirus, that should tell you something. I don’t know if HP sells more business or consumer laptops, but the service should be the same across the board, we’re all still paying customers in the end. I don’t care who you are, but when anyone plunks down a grand or more for a piece of electronic equipment, they are going to want to be treated nicely, at least.Attached Files:

thats nothing compare to the wait we had to endure when the new dell inspirons came out. it was finally shipped after three months after the estimated ship date.
-
-
honestly i dont know what your complaining about a short delay would be much better to me than to receive a laptop that i have been anticipating for months and find that its f'ed up then have to return it.
-
Not that bad of an experience.
Firstly, it takes about 2 weeks to build a custom laptop.
But the shipping, that sucks but still not that bad. -
i receive my laptop today....and found out that the cdrom tray doesn't go inside easily.....it needs a lot of force....
anyway, i have called hp and RMA'd my laptop.... -
-
Aren't the ship dates "estimated"?
-
Some of the newer drives have a different type of latch to close than previous drives. More force is required to close them. -
-
Check the drive on a HDX16 in a retail showroom to compare or ask the question in the HDX16 topic. -
....and, were you pushing it in evenly? if you were only one one side of the tray, it would seem like you need excessive force to close it. so, i guess we're not going to hear from you anymore now, right? since you're getting a Lenovo.
