hello,
I am planning on getting a dv6000t laptop for college. I don't plan on using it off the AC that much (as not takin it to class and only using it in dorms and libraries with power sources) However, I still feel that there might be times where I need more battery life.
So my questions:
- How long does the 6 cell last? (I have heard some say 2 hrs most while others say around 3-4 hrs)
- Is the 12 cell one sometimes annoying because it sticks out? is it harder to carry around or put into bags? (I do not care about the extra weight) and how much longer will it last? (5 hrs?)
- what do you guys think about the high capacity 6 cell? Is it better to just upgrade to 12 cell instead of 6 cell?
Thank you

For college I recommend you get the 12-cell you will really appreciate the extra battery life.
A 6-cell battery doesn't last more than around 3-3 1/2 hours or so on average on a 15.4 or bigger. -
Depends on how affected you are by extra weight and the potential aesthetic & practical consequences of having an extended battery stick out of your notebook.

my dv6000t lasted only 2.5hrs while writing a paper and listening to music (wireless/bt off, screen brightness pretty low) using a standard 6cell.
an enhanced 6cell on my dv2000t has lasted for already 3+ hours with balanced settings and wireless usage.
i would personally go with a 12cell if its going to be on a desktop most of the time. i used mine on my lap alot and it was too big so i traded for a 2000t after 2months of using the 6000t. i am also contemplating getting the 12cell for the 2000t now though..... i wish HP would make a SLIMMER one.... -
thanks for the info, if the enhanced 6 cell lasts around 3 hours, I think I might go with that, I don't think I need to have it on more than 3 or 4 hours away from a power source. In addition, I don't really care about the 12cell if I am using the computer, I just think it looks wierd while I'm carrying it around. I am not getting the laptop yet, but right now it looks like its going to be the enhanced 6 cell.

I had a hard time deciding too, but I thought that since I carry my laptop around too (I'm in college too, btw) along with my AC adapter, the 6 cell isn't too bad. I just really don't like the idea of a battery sticking out of an otherwise very streamlined laptop. Worst case scenario, I buy a sealed one from ebay for $90.

Hey I got the 12 cell and it is awesome. It lasts 8 hours compared to my regular 6 cell which died out around 2.5 hours.
-
btw, i got only 3+ hrs from the enhanced 6cell on my dv2000t. i havent tried that on the dv6000t yet but i dont plan to since its getting returned soon (i favored the less 1.3inchs and the weight cause its on my back all day)

The 12-cell is heavier and does stick out from the bottom but that aids in cooling since it lifts the back of the laptop. You can take out the battery for transport so it doesn't get in the way inside your slipcase/carrier. With max battery/low light lasts around six hours.

i dont think the battery sticking out matters too much personaly but i think if other people saw it they might think it looks a bit funny, and if an enhanced 6 cell works for 3+ hours it should do fine for you (as you said, most of the time your near a power supply). But i do like the little cooling advantage, and how the keyboard would be on a nice angle.

It is always better to go with the 12cell battery -
Hi,
I have been trying to compare the weight and size of the enhanced 6 cell battery vs the regular 6 cell battery. This is for the dv2000t. I think I found that the size is the same, but I would like to know how much heavier the enhanced 6 cell battery is compared to the regular 6 cell; or are they the same weight?
Thanks!! -
the weight difference btwn the reg 6cell and enhanced 6cell is nominal. you wont be able to tell at all....
the difference lies btwn the 12cell and 6cell...
The age old question: 6 cell or 12 cell battery??
