I am purchasing a laptop tomorrow and am pretty set on getting the dv5t. Of course, i've been reading a bunch of reviews. A lot of people complain about the heat issue of the dv5t. A few questions.

Is the heat on the dv5t really that bad? Would the configuration make a difference?

Is the dv5z any better with the heat "issue"?

I plan to use the computer on my lap sometimes but not often so I was trying to figure out if this was a deal breaker or anything. I don't think I will change my mind either way but I am curious. Thank you.

The temperatures are good unless you're gaming. When gaming the top can get almost painfully hot. But the computer stays fairly cool most of the time. If you're running it off the battery in power saver mode it's really nice.

Also, the DV5z is a rip off. You get inferior hardware for the same price.

Would you extend that comment about being a ripoff to any AMD in a dv notebook?

Yes. For the same price the Intel HP performance beats its AMD counterpart.

Wow, are you serious? I would think cooling would get better, not worse, with each generation; when I run games on my DV9700T, the top gets warm, not hot. Maybe I'm just not running games that tax the system enough (HL2, L4D, Bioshock, Vampire Bloodlines).

If I get the dv5t with the 9200 GPU, but don't really do hardly any gaming, will this computer still be hotter than the average 15.4" laptop? My main usage is Internet, email, photos, music, DVDs, and maybe an occasional lower end game. How does it compare to the Studo 1537 for example? Will I need to buy a cooling pad (b/c I'd have to factor that into the total cost when doing the comparison to other models)?
