Hey all, just purchased the HP DV-6 1030us from Office Depot for $699 then i have two 50 dollar rebates.

    Core 2 Duo T6400
    320Gb HDD-5400 RPM
    Vista 64bit
    integrated graphics
    ABGN and Bluetooth
    8X DVD burner w/ lightscribe
    16inch HP Brightview

The computer was easy to set up, is light weight and the screen is nice and crisp. Its quick, and am overall very satisfied with the DV6 and would recommend it. Anyone else have it or considering buying it?

I think I am about to purchase the exact same model. This will be my desktop replacement. no gaming.

Does it seem to get hot like some other hps or is that a dedicated video card issue?

    Thanks,

    Deek

pjn5000, please keep us posted. I'm interested in this machine too, but there aren't any good reviews out yet. Thanks for posting your initial thoughts. I'm curious to see if you find the machine reliable and it runs as expected.

Well, I played with my DV6 all afternoon. Quite a bit of trial software, took some time to uninstall. No vista disk so no clean install for now. The computer looks great. I wasnt sure if I was going to like the screen resolution, but its great. The screen is bright at full blast, I find myself turning it down a bit so it isnt so bright. The frame of the computer feels solid, just like a dv5. They keypad and mousepad are nice, similar to the dv5. Its nice having the numeric pad, its small but there. The dv6 is nice and light i feel, but maybe because I havent put the battery in. The machin runs pretty cool, doesnt seem to get too hot. However, it gets hot on your lap, the air really needs to be flowing.
