I finally got my HP Pavilion dv6000z. I have to start by saying it is a great machine; it does everything I need it to do and more. The hard drive does get a little hot though, at 118 degrees F, its hotter than my previous laptop's hard drive. Any suggestions to keep it cooler, or is this ok for it?
But anyway, the main reason for this topic is to complain about the beeping sound every time I touch one of the quick play buttons, which includes the volume controls. At first I thought it was pretty dang cool, but after about 10 minutes, I wanted to rip my ears off. My question: How do I disable that dang sound?

You might have to update your BIOS first. The BIOS that came with my first DV6000 was so old it didn't have the option to turn off the sound.

Oy, If I have to do that, I am just going to leave it. I hate flashing the BIOS.

Updating the BIOS is easy, just grab the correct one and run it. It's all done through windows.

The BIOS is so basic the only real usable option from default is the sound one anyways. If it is an old one, then you'll need the update anyways, it fixes a few other problems on the AMD series.

    (I have the AMD series)
